Internationalist brigades
Internationalist brigades are groups of volunteers from various countries who traveled to Spain in the 1930s to support the Spanish Republic during the Spanish Civil War. Comprising individuals such as socialists, communists, and anti-fascists, they fought alongside Spanish loyalists to oppose the fascist forces led by General Franco. These brigades symbolized international solidarity against fascism and demonstrated the global effort to defend democracy. They played a military and ideological role, inspiring broader resistance to authoritarianism worldwide during that period.
