International Confederation of Free Trade Unions
The International Confederation of Free Trade Unions (ICFTU) was an organization founded in 1949 to represent and support trade unions worldwide, advocating workers’ rights, decent working conditions, and social justice. It aimed to promote solidarity among unions across different countries, influence international labor standards, and oppose oppression or discrimination against workers. In 2006, the ICFTU merged with other global labor groups to form the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC), which continues its mission today. The ICFTU played a key role in strengthening global labor movements and promoting fair employment practices.
