Intermittent Hemodialysis

Intermittent hemodialysis is a treatment for kidney failure where a machine filters waste, extra fluid, and toxins from the blood. It typically takes place in a clinic for several hours at a time, usually three times a week. During the process, blood is drawn from the body, passed through a dialyzer (a special filter), and then returned. This helps manage the body’s balance of fluids and electrolytes, essentially taking over the functions that healthy kidneys would perform. It's a critical treatment for those whose kidneys are not functioning adequately.
