Interaural Time Difference (ITD)

Interaural Time Difference (ITD) is the small difference in the time it takes for a sound to reach each of your ears. When a sound comes from one side, it reaches that ear slightly earlier than the other. Your brain uses this tiny timing difference to help determine the direction and location of the sound source, especially for low-frequency sounds. ITD is a crucial cue in spatial hearing, allowing us to pinpoint where sounds are coming from in our environment with remarkable accuracy.
