Indigenous Peoples of India
Indigenous Peoples of India, often referred to as Scheduled Tribes, are distinct ethnic groups with unique cultures, languages, and traditions. They represent a diverse range of communities living mostly in rural and forested areas, maintaining their traditional lifestyles and connection to nature. There are over 700 such groups, each with its own identity. Many Indigenous Peoples face challenges like poverty, social exclusion, and loss of land due to development. The Indian government recognizes their rights through affirmative action and measures aimed at preserving their heritage and improving their socio-economic conditions.
