India (panchayati raj system)
India’s Panchayati Raj system is a decentralized form of governance that enables local self-government in rural areas. It involves elected councils called Panchayats at village, block, and district levels, empowering local communities to make decisions on development, sanitation, education, and infrastructure. This system promotes democratic participation, accountability, and tailored development based on local needs. Established constitutionally in 1992, Panchayati Raj aims to strengthen grassroots democracy, improve governance, and ensure that rural populations have a voice in their own progress and resource management.
