Incisional Biopsy

An incisional biopsy is a medical procedure used to diagnose a suspicious tissue or growth. During the procedure, a healthcare provider removes a small part of the abnormal area, rather than the entire lesion. This sample is then examined under a microscope to determine if the tissue is benign or cancerous. Incisional biopsies are often performed when the lesion is large or difficult to remove completely, helping doctors plan the best treatment approach. The procedure is usually done under local anesthesia, meaning you're awake but the area is numb, with minimal discomfort and quick recovery.
