Incident Light Meter

An incident light meter is a device used in photography to measure the amount of light falling directly onto a subject or scene. By holding the meter close to or pointing it toward the light source, it provides an accurate reading of light intensity, helping photographers determine the correct camera settings (aperture, shutter speed, ISO) for a well-exposed image. Unlike reflective meters that measure light reflected from a surface, incident meters focus on the actual light illuminating the scene, ensuring more consistent exposure readings regardless of the subject’s reflectivity or color.
