Impetigo

Impetigo is a common and contagious skin infection, primarily affecting children, although it can occur in anyone. It is caused by bacteria, usually Staphylococcus aureus or Streptococcus pyogenes. Impetigo typically appears as red sores or blisters, which may ooze and form a honey-colored crust. The infection often starts around the nose and mouth but can spread to other parts of the body or to other people. Treatment usually involves topical or oral antibiotics to clear the infection and prevent spreading it. Good hygiene practices are important to help prevent its transmission.
