Imperial Diet

The Imperial Diet, known as the "Reichstag" in German, was an assembly in the Holy Roman Empire where princes, bishops, and representatives from various regions discussed and made decisions on important issues like laws, taxes, and military matters. It functioned from the late Middle Ages until the early 19th century. The Diet aimed to address conflicts among the empire's many states and maintain order. Although it had limited power compared to individual rulers, it served as a platform for political dialogue and cooperation within the vast and diverse empire, reflecting the balance of power among various territories.
