Immunosenescence
Immunosenescence refers to the gradual decline of the immune system's effectiveness as people age. Over time, the immune system becomes less efficient at detecting and fighting off infections, and its response to vaccines weakens. This process involves changes in immune cells, reduced production of new immune cells, and a diminished ability to respond to new pathogens. As a result, older individuals are more susceptible to illnesses, experience longer recovery times, and may have a higher risk of certain diseases. Immunosenescence is a natural part of aging but can be mitigated through healthy lifestyle choices and medical interventions.
