Image-Based Lighting

Image-Based Lighting (IBL) is a technique used in computer graphics to create realistic lighting and reflections by capturing the environment’s appearance through a panoramic image, often called an HDR image. This image serves as a virtual light source, providing accurate shading and reflections on 3D objects based on the surrounding environment’s lighting conditions. IBL enables scenes to look more natural and integrated, as the lighting and reflections respond dynamically to the environment captured in the image, resulting in highly realistic visual effects without complex manual setup.
