Ibn Tufail
Ibn Tufail was a 12th-century Arab philosopher, physician, and poet from Al-Andalus (modern-day Spain). He is best known for his philosophical novel "Hayy ibn Yaqdhan," which explores themes of self-discovery and the relationship between reason and faith. The story follows a boy raised in isolation on a desert island who learns about existence and knowledge through observation and reasoning. Ibn Tufail's work influenced later thinkers, including those in the European Enlightenment, and reflects the rich intellectual exchange between Islamic and Western thought during the medieval period.
