Hussites

The Hussites were a religious movement in the early 15th-century Bohemia (modern Czech Republic), inspired by the teachings of reformer Jan Hus. They challenged the Roman Catholic Church's practices, advocating for changes like giving laypeople access to communion and criticizing church corruption. Their movement led to significant social and religious upheaval, including the Hussite Wars (1419–1434), which were a series of conflicts between Hussite factions and Catholic forces. They played a key role in shaping Czech national identity and contributed to broader early reform efforts that prefigured the Protestant Reformation.
