Hungary (1956 Revolution)

The 1956 Hungarian Revolution was a nationwide uprising against Soviet control and Communist rule. Inspired by broader demands for freedom and reform, Hungarians demanded political independence, greater personal freedoms, and an end to Soviet influence. The uprising began with protests and soon escalated into armed conflict, but the Soviet Union forcefully suppressed the revolt within weeks. Despite its failure, the revolution became a symbol of resistance against oppressive regimes and inspired future movements for democracy in Eastern Europe.
