Hungarian statehood
Hungarian statehood refers to the establishment and development of Hungary as a sovereign nation. It began around 1000 AD when King Stephen I unified the land and adopted Christianity, laying the foundation of a centralized state. Over centuries, Hungary experienced periods of independence, invasion, and occupation, including the Ottoman and Habsburg rule. In 1848-49, it fought for independence from Austria. The 20th century saw territorial changes, especially after World War I and II. Today, Hungary is a parliamentary republic with a history of resilience, maintaining its cultural identity and sovereignty within the European Union.
