Hume's Fork

Hume’s Fork is a philosophical idea that divides statements into two categories: truths of fact and relations of ideas. Truths of fact depend on evidence from experience and can be proven false (e.g., "The sky is blue"). Relations of ideas are logical or mathematical truths that are true by definition and cannot be false (e.g., "A square has four sides"). Hume used this distinction to argue that many philosophical claims about morality or religion go beyond what can be known through evidence or logical analysis, challenging claims that are not grounded in either category.
