Hosni Mubarak

Hosni Mubarak was an Egyptian military officer and politician who served as the President of Egypt from 1981 until 2011. He came to power after the assassination of Anwar Sadat. Mubarak's rule was characterized by a strong authoritarian government, with significant suppression of dissent and political opposition. His presidency focused on economic reforms but was marred by widespread corruption and human rights abuses. In 2011, amid the Arab Spring protests, he was ousted from power. After his removal, Mubarak faced trials for corruption and complicity in violence against protesters, leading to his eventual imprisonment and health-related release.
