Hormonal IUD

A hormonal IUD is a small, T-shaped device inserted into the uterus by a healthcare provider. It releases a low amount of progestin, a hormone that thickens cervical mucus to prevent sperm from reaching an egg and thins the uterine lining, making it less suitable for implantation. This device can provide long-term contraception for 3 to 7 years, depending on the type, and is highly effective. Hormonal IUDs are reversible, allowing fertility to return quickly after removal, and may also help reduce menstrual bleeding and cramps during use.
