Hongwu Era reforms

The Hongwu Era (1368–1398), under Emperor Hongwu of China's Ming Dynasty, implemented significant reforms to restore order after turmoil. These included strengthening central authority, reducing the power of local officials to prevent corruption, and promoting agricultural productivity through land redistribution. The era also established a stable tax system, improved infrastructure like canals and the Great Wall, and emphasized Confucian values to reinforce moral governance. Additionally, Hongwu standardized laws and promoted merit-based civil service exams to select officials, creating a more stable and orderly government. These reforms laid the foundation for a unified, efficient imperial bureaucracy.
