Holy of Holies
The Holy of Holies is the innermost and most sacred area of the ancient Jewish Temple in Jerusalem. It was considered the dwelling place of God's divine presence. Access was highly restricted; only the High Priest could enter once a year on Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement, to perform religious rituals. The space was separated from the rest of the temple by a thick curtain, symbolizing the sacred barrier between God and people. The Holy of Holies represented the spiritual core of Jewish worship and the idea of divine proximity.
