Hold-Relax Technique

The Hold-Relax Technique is a stretching method used to improve flexibility and relieve muscle tightness. It involves the person stretching a muscle gently to a comfortable point, then holding that stretch for about 10 seconds. Next, they contract the same muscle slightly against resistance for around 5 seconds, which activates the muscle's natural reflex to relax. Afterward, they relax the muscle and deepen the stretch slightly. Repeating this cycle can help increase the muscle’s length over time, reducing tightness and improving movement. It’s often used in physical therapy and athletic routines to enhance flexibility safely.
