HLA-DQ2
HLA-DQ2 is a specific protein found on the surface of immune cells, which helps the immune system recognize and respond to other proteins. It is part of the human leukocyte antigen (HLA) system that assists in distinguishing our body's own cells from foreign invaders. Certain versions of HLA-DQ2 are linked to a higher risk of developing celiac disease, an autoimmune disorder where the immune system attacks the small intestine in response to gluten. Not everyone with HLA-DQ2 will develop celiac disease, but its presence increases susceptibility and helps in diagnosis.
