Heterogeneous equilibrium
Heterogeneous equilibrium occurs when a chemical reaction involves substances in different states, such as solids, liquids, or gases, and these substances are in balance with each other. At this point, the forward and reverse reactions happen at the same rate, so the amounts of reactants and products stay constant. For example, in a reaction where a gas interacts with a solid, the equilibrium is maintained when the rate of gas molecules reacting with the solid equals the rate of products forming back into reactants. This concept helps us understand how different phases coexist stably during a reaction.
