Herman Ebbinghaus

Hermann Ebbinghaus was a German psychologist known for his pioneering research on memory. In the late 19th century, he conducted experiments using nonsensical syllables to study how we learn and forget information over time. Ebbinghaus developed the "forgetting curve," which illustrates how quickly we lose information if we don't actively try to remember it. He also introduced the "spacing effect," showing that spaced-out learning improves retention compared to cramming. His work laid the foundation for modern cognitive psychology and our understanding of memory processes.
