Heraclitus

Heraclitus, a pre-Socratic philosopher, is best known for his belief that change is central to the universe. He famously stated that "you cannot step into the same river twice," highlighting the idea that everything is in flux. This perspective challenges static notions of identity, suggesting that entities are defined by their relationships and the constant change around them. Additionally, he introduced the concept of unity of opposites, proposing that contradictions work together to create harmony. Thus, Heraclitus invites us to see reality as a dynamic interplay of forces rather than a fixed set of identities.
