Hemo B
Hemo B, also known as Hemophilia B or Christmas disease, is a genetic bleeding disorder caused by a deficiency of clotting factor IX. Normally, this protein helps blood form stable clots to stop bleeding after injury. Without enough factor IX, individuals are prone to spontaneous bleeding or excessive bleeding from cuts, injuries, or surgeries. It is inherited in an X-linked pattern, primarily affecting males. Treatment involves regular infusions of factor IX concentrate to prevent or control bleeding episodes. With proper management, many people with Hemo B can lead active, healthy lives.
