Heliopolis

Heliopolis, meaning "City of the Sun" in Greek, was an ancient Egyptian city located near modern-day Cairo. It was a major religious center dedicated to the worship of the sun god Ra. Heliopolis was home to significant temples and pyramids, and it played an essential role in Egyptian mythology and astronomy. The city was known for its scholars and contributed to the development of the ancient Egyptian calendar. Although much of Heliopolis is in ruins today, its historical significance remains as a key site in understanding ancient Egyptian culture and religion.
