Helen Thomas was a pioneering American journalist known for her long career in political reporting, particularly as a White House correspondent. Thomas was known for her tough questioning and her role as the first female president of the White House Correspondents' Association. Throughout her career, she covered ten U.S. presidents and became recognized for her commitment to holding power accountable. She was an influential advocate for press freedom until her retirement in the early 2010s.
