Heart Conduction System

The heart conduction system is a network of specialized cells that control the heart's rhythm. It generates electrical signals that trigger heartbeats, ensuring the heart pumps blood efficiently. The signals start at the sinoatrial (SA) node, often called the heart's natural pacemaker, then travel to the atrioventricular (AV) node, and spread through the ventricles via the bundle of His and Purkinje fibers. This organized conduction ensures that the heart muscles contract in a coordinated way, maintaining effective blood flow throughout the body. Proper function of this system is crucial for overall heart health.
