Heap Leach Mining
Heap leach mining is a method used to extract metals, typically gold or copper, from ore. In this process, crushed ore is piled in heaps on a lined surface, and a chemical solution, often containing cyanide or sulfuric acid, is applied to the heap. The solution seeps through the ore, dissolving the desired metals. After some time, the liquid that contains the metals is collected and processed to recover them. This method is economical and effective for low-grade ores but requires careful management to minimize environmental impacts.
