Harvard Implicit Association Test (IAT)

The Harvard Implicit Association Test (IAT) measures unconscious biases by analyzing how quickly a person associates different concepts. During the test, individuals categorize words or images into groups (e.g., race, gender, or attitudes) using a computer. The test tracks response times to reveal automatic preferences or stereotypes that might not align with their conscious beliefs. Faster associations between certain groups and positive or negative words suggest implicit biases. The IAT provides insight into subconscious attitudes, helping individuals become aware of biases they may not intentionally hold.
