Hannibal

Hannibal Barca was a Carthaginian general known for his strategic brilliance during the Second Punic War (218–201 BC) against Rome. He is most famous for his audacious crossing of the Alps with a diverse army, including war elephants, to launch a surprise attack on Rome. Hannibal achieved several significant victories, including the Battle of Cannae in 216 BC, where his tactics decisively defeated a larger Roman force. Despite his successes, he ultimately could not secure a lasting victory against Rome, which adapted and eventually triumphed in the war. Hannibal is often regarded as one of history's greatest military commanders.
