hanging
Hanging is a method of execution or suicide where a person’s neck is constricted by a noose or rope, leading to unconsciousness or death. When the knot is placed around the neck and the person drops or the rope tightens, it compresses the airway and blood vessels, causing loss of consciousness and, if not stopped, death. Hanging can be performed using various techniques, but common elements include a secure noose, an appropriate drop distance, and a supporting structure. It’s a method historically used for capital punishment and, unfortunately, in some self-harm cases.
