Hangeul

Hangeul is the phonetic writing system of Korea, created in the 15th century by King Sejong to promote literacy. It consists of 14 consonants and 10 vowels, which are combined into syllabic blocks representing individual sounds. Each block typically includes an initial consonant, a vowel, and optionally a final consonant, forming a compact, logical structure that mirrors Korean speech. Hangeul’s design emphasizes ease of learning and precision, making it accessible yet capable of expressing complex ideas. Its scientific and systematic nature has earned it recognition as one of the most efficient writing systems in the world.
