Halo Stars
Halo stars are ancient stars that orbit the center of our galaxy, the Milky Way, in a spherical distribution surrounding the galaxy's main disk. They are typically very old, metal-poor, and have highly elliptical orbits, meaning they move in more elongated paths compared to stars in the main disk. These stars provide valuable clues about the early history of the galaxy, as they formed before the galaxy’s disk was fully developed. Their study helps astronomers understand the galaxy’s formation, evolution, and the conditions of the early universe.
