Haithabu

Haithabu, also known as Hedeby, was an important Viking trading settlement located near the modern town of Schleswig in Germany. Established around the 8th century, it served as a bustling marketplace where goods such as furs, amber, and metalwork were exchanged. Its strategic location near Europe’s rivers and the North Sea facilitated trade with various cultures, enriching Viking society. Haithabu was also a center for shipbuilding and navigation.
