Hail
Hail consists of frozen, spherical or irregularly shaped ice pellets that form in thunderstorms with strong updrafts. When raindrops are lifted high into extremely cold parts of the storm, they freeze. These ice balls can grow larger as they are carried through the storm and accumulate additional layers of ice. Eventually, they become heavy enough to fall to the ground as hail. Hail can vary in size from small peas to golf balls or larger, and it can cause significant damage to crops, vehicles, and structures.
