Gutka
Gutka is a flavored mixture of crushed areca nut, tobacco, lime, sweet or savory flavorings, and sometimes spices, packaged in small pouches. It’s typically placed in the mouth to be chewed or sucked, delivering nicotine and other stimulating ingredients. Originally popular in parts of South Asia, gutka is used to enhance alertness or for pleasure. However, it poses serious health risks, including oral cancers, gum disease, and addiction. Because of its harmful effects, gutka is banned or regulated in many countries seeking to reduce tobacco-related health issues.
