Gurrumul Yunupingu, known as Gurrumul, was an Indigenous Australian musician and singer-songwriter from the Yolŋu people of northeast Arnhem Land. Renowned for his soulful voice and captivating compositions, he primarily performed in his native Yolŋu Matha language. Gurrumul's music blends traditional Indigenous themes with contemporary influences, addressing cultural identity and connection to land. His self-titled debut album, released in 2008, gained international acclaim, showcasing his unique artistry. Gurrumul passed away in 2017, but his legacy endures, inspiring audiences worldwide with his poignant storytelling and commitment to preserving Yolŋu culture through music.
