Guerra Civil Española
The Spanish Civil War (1936-1939) was a conflict between the Republican government, which sought to maintain the democratically elected system, and the Nationalist rebels, led by General Francisco Franco, who aimed to establish an authoritarian dictatorship. Rooted in social, political, and economic tensions, the war drew international involvement, with Nazi Germany and Fascist Italy supporting the Nationalists, and the Soviet Union backing the Republicans. The conflict resulted in approximately 500,000 deaths, ending with Franco’s victory and the establishment of a long-lasting dictatorship that lasted until his death in 1975.
