Grunig's Relationship Model
Grunig's Relationship Model explains how organizations manage their connections with the public. It identifies four types of relationships based on the level of mutual understanding and interaction: 1. **Press Agentry/Publicity** – one-way, mainly broadcasting information to gain attention without much feedback. 2. **Public Information** – one-way dissemination of factual information to inform the public. 3. **Two-Way Symmetrical** – two-way, balanced communication aimed at understanding and mutual benefit. 4. **Two-Way Asymmetrical** – two-way but primarily for persuasion, with less focus on mutual benefit. The model highlights the importance of open, honest communication for building strong relationships.
