Grundgesetz

The Grundgesetz, or Basic Law, is Germany’s constitution, established in 1949 to define the country’s legal framework. It sets out fundamental rights for individuals, such as freedom of speech and equality, and structures government powers, including the Bundestag (parliament) and the Bundestag (executive branch). It ensures democracy, rule of law, and respect for human dignity. Serving as the fundamental legal authority, the Grundgesetz ensures that laws and government actions align with democratic principles and protections, providing stability and guiding the functioning of Germany’s political and legal systems.
