GRAVITY Collaboration

The GRAVITY Collaboration is a team of scientists and engineers working together to study the strongest gravitational environment in our galaxy—near the supermassive black hole at the center of the Milky Way. They use a state-of-the-art instrument called GRAVITY, attached to the Very Large Telescope in Chile, which combines multiple telescopes to achieve extremely detailed and precise observations. This allows them to track the movement of stars and matter close to the black hole, testing Einstein’s theory of general relativity and advancing our understanding of gravity, black holes, and fundamental physics.
