Gravitational Potential Energy
Gravitational potential energy is the energy stored in an object because of its position relative to a gravitational field, typically Earth. When you lift an object upward, work is done against gravity, and energy is stored in it. The higher the object is raised, the more potential energy it gains. If released, this energy converts into movement or other forms of energy, like kinetic energy, as the object falls. Essentially, gravitational potential energy depends on the object's mass, height above a reference point, and the strength of the gravitational field.
