Granovetter

Mark Granovetter is known for his work on social networks, especially the idea of "weak ties." He explained that strong ties—like close friends or family—are great for emotional support, but weak ties—like acquaintances—are valuable because they connect different social groups. These weak links often provide new information, job opportunities, or ideas that aren’t available within close-knit circles. In essence, Granovetter showed how our "weak" connections can play a big role in helping us access opportunities and spread information widely across a community.
