grains

Grains are tiny, hard seeds from grasses such as wheat, rice, corn, barley, oats, and rye that serve as staple foods worldwide. They provide essential nutrients like carbohydrates, fiber, vitamins, and minerals, forming the foundation of many diets. Grains can be processed into flour, breakfast cereals, and bread, and are also used in snacks and beverages. Whole grains contain all parts of the seed—the bran, germ, and endosperm—offering more nutrients, while refined grains have some parts removed, reducing their nutritional value.
