Graded Sprains

Graded sprains describe the severity of ligament injuries in a joint, typically the ankle or wrist. They are classified into three levels: Grade I involves minor stretching without tearing, causing mild pain and swelling; Grade II features partial tearing, resulting in more significant pain, swelling, and some loss of stability; Grade III is a complete tear of the ligament, leading to severe pain, swelling, instability, and loss of joint function. The grade helps determine appropriate treatment, which may range from rest and ice to physical therapy or surgery for severe cases.
