Graded Motor Imagery

Graded Motor Imagery (GMI) is a therapy technique that helps people recover movement and reduce pain by gradually retraining the brain's connection to the body. It involves three stages: first, visualizing movements without actual movement, then gently imagining moving the affected area, and finally, actual movement of the area. This step-by-step approach aims to rewire disrupted nerve signals and improve function, especially in conditions like persistent pain or after injury. GMI leverages the brain's ability to adapt and change (neuroplasticity) to support healing and regain normal movement.
