GPP (Gross Primary Productivity)

Gross Primary Productivity (GPP) is the total amount of energy that plants, algae, and other photosynthetic organisms produce through photosynthesis in a given area and time. It represents the total biomass or organic matter generated before any is used for the plant's own growth or respiration. Essentially, GPP is the raw energy input from sunlight that plants convert into chemical energy, forming the foundation of the food chain and supporting ecosystems. It provides a measure of how much an environment's plants are capable of producing in terms of energy.
